Schleicher County Traffic Court System

Schleicher County is a small, sparsely populated West Texas county. The county and district clerk functions are combined into one office, which maintains all court records including traffic cases. Traffic violations are handled by the Justice of the Peace court. The JP court processes citations for Class C misdemeanor offenses issued by the county sheriff and DPS troopers on county roads and state highways. The 51st Judicial District covers district-level cases in the county.

Because this is a very small county, court staff wear multiple hats. Contact the courthouse in Eldorado to reach the right office for your traffic case. Your citation will list the court name and your appearance date. Use those details to find out exactly where to go and what deadlines apply.

Schleicher County Traffic Ticket Options

A traffic citation in Schleicher County gives you several choices. Paying the fine is the fastest option but enters a conviction on your driving record. Check whether deferred disposition or a Driver Safety Course might be available before you pay. Either option can result in a dismissal with no conviction.

Deferred disposition requires you to request it on or before your appearance date. You pay a fee, enter a plea, and the court suspends the conviction for 90 to 180 days. Stay clean during that period and the case is dismissed. The Driver Safety Course option works similarly. You request it before or on your court date, complete a 6-hour approved course within 90 days, and submit proof to the court. The case is then dismissed. CDL holders cannot use the DSC option. The course is only available once every 12 months.

Under Transportation Code Chapter 545, most moving violations qualify for these programs. The TexasCourtHelp traffic page has more information on all your options in plain language.
