Conroe Traffic Citation Options
When you get a traffic ticket in Conroe, you have several ways to respond. The right choice depends on your record and what you want the outcome to be. Do not pay without checking all your options first.
Paying the fine is quick but enters a conviction on your record. That gets reported to Texas DPS. If you want to keep the ticket off your driving record, look at deferred disposition or a driving safety course instead.
Deferred disposition lets you plead guilty or no contest, then complete a probation period. If you meet all the terms, the case is dismissed with no conviction. You must request this before your appearance date. Check the portal to see if your case qualifies or call the court at (936) 522-3380.
A driving safety course is available for eligible violations. You plead guilty or no contest, pay $144 in court costs ($169 if the violation was in a school zone), and complete a state-approved course within 90 days. You must have a valid Texas non-commercial driver's license and current insurance. You cannot have used this option for another ticket in the last 12 months. CDL holders do not qualify.
You also have the right to plead not guilty and request a trial before a judge. Contact the court at (936) 522-3380 to schedule a court date if you want to contest the citation.
Conroe Traffic Warrants
If you miss your appearance date or fail to pay a Conroe citation, the court can issue a warrant. Warrants enter the regional system and can come up during any law enforcement contact in Texas. They can also block you from renewing your Texas driver's license through the DPS Failure to Appear/Pay program.
Contact the Conroe Municipal Court at (936) 522-3380 if you have or suspect an active warrant. Do not wait. Fees and penalties stack up over time, and an active warrant can lead to arrest during any routine traffic stop.
Note: If you have a warrant and want to clear it, you may be able to post a bond or pay the fine. The court clerk can walk you through the options when you call.
